Oulart 1938
This is an intriguing picture of Oulart on the evening before the 1798 Commemorations in 1938. It was on this occasion that the first monument on Oulart Hill was unveiled. There are two people standing in the picture chatting to the left of Cooney’s door. We don’t suppose it will ever be known who they are. Perhaps it’s as well – this way they can sort of represent everybody.
You can just make out the top of the old ball-alley wall running along above the roof of the big shed to the right. The tall door to the right of the monument is the door to Oulart Courthouse.
