Official opening of Mise Éire – Sunday October 1st

Oulart’s unique new monument to 1916 and War of Independence.

It is with pride and pleasure that the committee wish to let everyone know that SUNDAY OCTOBER 1st. is the date for the official opening of Mise Éire – Oulart’s unique new monument to 1916 and War of Independence.

Master of Ceremonies on the day will be our own Chairman -John Dempsey, The Hill. The opening ceremony will be performed by the Chairman of Wexford County Council, Mr. John Hegarty who will address all present and then call on Mick and Lar de Lacy to pull the two ribbons to unveil the memorial.

Mick (89) and Lar (91), donated the site for Mise Éire in proud memory of all the Oulartmen taking part in the struggle.

Everybody in the community and across the county is earnestly invited to be present for what is a truly historic day – a day when one small parish celebrates its own proud chapter in the national story that began on Oulart Hill in 1798.

Lots of help will be needed and we ask all Volunteers to contact any committee member. Stewarding, catering and general tidying up of all the historic sites in the village, on the Hill and along the Jean Kennedy Smith Walk will be the most demanding areas of activity as we approach the big day. Again, all welcome.
